The Legend Paint Protection Film distributor is a mere 882 miles from Kyiv, Ukraine, a country under siege and in need of humanitarian aid. Owner Owen Lloyd and his team answered the call for help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUkraine is about a seven-hour drive from where our company is located\u2014we\u2019re pretty close,\u201d Lloyd says. \u201cI was thinking, \u2018There\u2019s nowhere in our local area where people can donate essential items.\u2019 I posted a notice on a local Facebook webpage: \u2018If you want to donate, you can come to our company and drop off stuff at the warehouse.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16777\" class=\"wp-caption alignright fbx-instance\"><a class=\"fbx-link\" href=\"https:\/\/windowfilmmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Legend-working.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16777 size-medium lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/windowfilmmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Legend-working-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16777\" data-src=\"https:\/\/windowfilmmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Legend-working-300x225.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-16777\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FilmDirect\u2019s initial operation outgrew the company\u2019s warehouse.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Locals turned up within hours, with distant philanthropists delivering unannounced care via Amazon. \u201cWe did that for a week until it got to the stage where it was too much to manage and do our daily jobs,\u201d Lloyd adds. \u201cI then went to the local city hall [for coordination]. They gave us an empty building, and I organized 50 volunteers on Facebook for management. We\u2019re open every day; so far, we\u2019ve sent two lorry [truck] loads to Poland and Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>*FilmDirect\u2019s Collected Items<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022<\/strong> Sleeping bags, blankets, sleeping pads<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Foodstuffs<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Baby food<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> First aid kits<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Medicine<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Hygiene (child\/ baby)<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Underwear (ladies\/children)<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Hygiene items<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Baby equipment<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Disposable tableware<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Walking aids, rollators, wheelchairs<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Pet food<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Batteries, flashlights<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Candles<br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong> Beverages<\/p>\n<p><strong>*<\/strong>Depending on the needs, the donations are sent directly to the Ukraine\/Poland border region.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_16783\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft fbx-instance\"><a class=\"fbx-link\" href=\"https:\/\/windowfilmmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/poland-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16783 lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/windowfilmmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/poland-2-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16783\" data-src=\"https:\/\/windowfilmmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/poland-2-225x300.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-16783\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FilmDirect\u2019s delivery arriving in Poland, a country in dire need of assistance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to the United Nations, 3.6 million people had left Ukraine as of March 27. Poland has taken in 2,293,833, or 63.7%, of all refugees. \u201cWe found a local transport company that puts a trailer in a yard, and once it\u2019s full, they take it free of charge into Poland for us,\u201d Lloyd explains. \u201cIt\u2019s quite incredible because the price of <a href=\"https:\/\/windowfilmmag.com\/2022\/03\/gas-prices\/\">gas<\/a> has gone up worldwide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Legend Paint Protection Film\u2019s Kyiv-based distributor is also making an impact\u2014on the battlefield. \u201cThey are using their vans to deliver food and medicine to people in Kyiv,\u201d Lloyd says. \u201cThey\u2019re also wrapping military vehicles in camouflage. We bought them bulletproof vests and helmets; while they\u2019re delivering [aid], they could be caught in the crossfire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lloyd says 10 Ukrainian families are located in the area, and all are welcome to pick up supplies if needed. His country is partnered with a NATO alliance that includes 30 independent member countries, but uncertainty abounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a feeling we\u2019ve never had\u2014something you would never foresee happening,\u201d he says of Russia\u2019s February 24 invasion.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FilmDirect of Brieselang, Germany, finds itself doling out more than industry products this spring.
